We had fun with Caiden today, taking him to the park with Nana, & then he came over to our house & played for a couple of hours. He's so cute! Here's Caiden enjoying an ice cream cone. We met Emily & Danny at Taco Mamacita's tonight & it was really nice to spend some time with the newlyweds. :) This place also has the best tacos! We pigged out! They have some really cool decorations & here's one of them. This was a shot of the moon tonight. Cool, huh?

Caiden's 2 yr b-day

Today was Caiden's birthday & we celebrated with a firefighter party. Bethany decorated everything with firetrucks which Caiden loves! He was so cute opening all his presents but I think he liked his "mow" the best that Memaw got him :) Here are a few pics.

wedding shower

This weekend we had a wedding shower for my niece Bethany who's getting married in August. The theme was Hawaiian & everyone dressed in bright colors. We had a really great time & she got some very useful things for her & Shadrick's new life together. I realized that Emily will be getting married in less than three months! The time seems to be flying & I'm sure it's going even faster for her & Danny. I'm excited for them to start their new life together. :)

4th of July

This weekend was so much fun! We drove downtown on Saturday night & got a great parking spot just in time to see some fireworks. Then on Sunday night we thought we could get in the same spot to watch the fireworks but there were thousands of cars on the road, all trying to get downtown.I've never seen soooo many people in one place in my life! So we just parked in a grassy median on the interstate & had a perfect view. The show was amazing! Here are a few pics. Then on Sunday we celebrated the 4th with a cook-out at Linda's house. We had some great food & a wonderful time being with family.

movies in the park

Last night I went to see Wizard of Oz at Centennial Park. It was a really cool experience & something I've never done before! We got there about 6:30 & it was already pretty packed. We had to sit behind where people are able to sit chairs so that was a little frustrating, but we could still see pretty good. There was a ton of people!! Who knew this was such a popular thing to do! This was the Yogi Bear cartoon they showed before the movie & I have to say it was the lamest cartoon I've ever seen, no offence to Yogi Bear! Even the 14,000 kids that were there weren't interested in it. Then the feature film!! I was so excited to see Wizard of Oz on the "big screen!" This has always been one of my favorite movies & I wasn't disappointed at all! Bethany & Shadrick showed up right when the movie was about to start. This is a pic of them eating the yummy popcorn that Shadrick bought. Danny showed up about 15 minutes before the movie ended & Emily made a grand entrance right at the end when Dorothy was saying her classic line,"There's no place like home" & clicking her ruby red slippers together. :) All in all it was a great night & now I'm wondering why I've never done the movies in the park before. I think next summer I will make it a weekly event. Now I have to try to make it through the day on just about three hours of sleep. :( But it was worth it!!

Tribute to my Dad

Today was Father's Day & I've been thinking about my Dad a lot . He was a true man of God and he didn't just talk the talk, he walked the walk. He was a man of his word & when he told you he would do something, you could believe he would come through for you. I remember when I was in my teenage rebellious years, at one point in my life I had made a bad choice, but I remember my Dad opening up the Word of God & pointing to 2 verses in Philippians 3:13 & 14. "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." He helped me understand that God forgives & that he doesn't keep a book of all our wrong doings & then bring them up to us again when He feels like it. And that in our daily Christian walk, we strive to be more like Christ every day. That was such a defining moment in my life, thanks to my Dad. My Dad was a quiet person most of the time, but when he spoke he spoke with such wisdom. He taught me many life lessons that I still carry with me today. I miss him greatly! Happy Fathers Day Daddy!
